I Spy Alphabet Literacy Center – Groundhog Edition

Are you looking for an engaging way to practice the Alphabet in literacy centers? Need an independent center? Hands-on and easy prep?

There are 40 cards with Groundhog pictures. Hidden in the pictures are small Alphabet letters. The students will use magnifying glasses to “spy” the letters. They will use expo markers to circle them and then check off the ones they find. Once they found all on the card, they erase their check marks and circle. This center can be used again and again!

There is a 2nd version (another 40 cards) where students find the letters and instead of checking it off the student will trace the letter they found.

Also included is “I can” Poster to explain directions for this literacy center.

Common Core Connection:
RF.K.1d Recognize and name all upper- and lowercase letters of the alphabet.
RF.K.3a Demonstrate basic knowledge of one to one letter sounds correspondences by producing the primary sound for each consonant.
RF.K. 3b Associate the short and long vowel sounds for the five major vowels.
